I interviewed Mark on "What Are You Reading?" about his book. If you enjoy historical fiction, you might want to put "The Hawk's Cross" on your summer reading list. In Varnum's W.W. II book, Lt. Ken Mitchell returns to his Maine home with the somewhat boring assignment of performing a "coastal watch". Mitchell feels like he is missing out on all of the war action and soon reunites with his old school buddies, including a former girlfriend. However, events take a dramatic turn for the lieutenant and the local residents when a German U-boat is sighted near local waters. Loaded with both ammunition and spies, this unwelcomed intruder quickly adds a new element of intrigue and excitement to Lt. Mitchell's assignment!
"The Hawk's Cross" is a suspenseful mix of history and mystery that happens right in our own backyard!
